Wes Anderson's doll-house aesthetic and command of storytelling merged perfectly for his Oscar-winning 2014 opus, THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL. As led by a dazzlingly funny Ralph Fiennes and matched in every way by co-lead Tony Revolori, this is a deceptively simple film about the ephemeral nature of luxury and the "good old way" of life dressed up as a madcap caper. And enough can't be said about cinematographer Robert Yeoman's career-best work on this film, which is both visually rich and as meticulous as ever. This HOTEL is an effervescent and ultimately bittersweet gift that will deservedly go down in the history books as one of the acclaimed auteur's most fully-realized efforts.
Robert Yeoman is a cinematographer best known for his extended collaboration with Wes Anderson on all of his live-action features including ASTEROID CITY, THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL (Oscar nom), THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS, and RUSHMORE, among others.
