JURASSIC PARK 30th Anniversary

After dazzling audiences over and over with his increasingly advanced and technologically astonishing blockbusters, Spielberg upped the ante with his adaptation of Michael Crichton’s bestseller, JURASSIC PARK. With a groundbreaking mix of practical effects and CGI as well as multi-Oscar-winning sound design, JURASSIC PARK brought dinosaurs back to the earth in hyperrealistic and terrifying fashion. Elevated further by John Williams’ iconic score, JURASSIC PARK is another high point in the master filmmaker’s filmography that influenced countless subsequent films, none of which could match the awe-inspiring power of the original.

Gary Rydstrom is a seven-time Oscar-winning sound designer and filmmaker best known for his sonic work on such films as TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY, JURASSIC PARK, TITANIC, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, FINDING NEMO, and WEST SIDE STORY, among many others. He has received a total of 20 Oscar nominations along with 2 BAFTA wins (from 8 nominations). For Pixar, Gary directed the Oscar-nominated short film, "Lifted", and he directed the English-language dubs of many Studio Ghibli films. He previously joined Picturehouse 441 to discuss SAVING PRIVATE RYAN.
