Melissa Lawson Cheung is an Editor working in narrative feature film and television. Her passion for storytelling ignited as a young child, when she would dream of one day becoming a filmmaker. Looking to stay close to her family in Northern California, she found her way to the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where she found her calling in the post production realm. She graduated with a degree in Film and Television with an emphasis in editing. In 2000 she began her career at the cutting-edge television station TechTV in San Francisco, CA, and soon after began freelance-editing video games, promos, and independent films. Upon moving to Los Angeles in 2005, she focused exclusively on scripted film and television; she began with productions such as BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (under Ronald D. Moore) and RED TAILS (with George Lucas and Anthony Hemingway). Over the years she has served as Editor on multiple projects including many seasons of the television series OUTLANDER, the hit USA series MR. ROBOT from Sam Esmail, and a variety of projects with Director Peter Berg including PATRIOTS DAY and MILE 22. You can catch Melissa’s most recent work in the Marvel series, DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN, currently streaming on Disney+.
A native of Koreatown, Los Angeles, Cedric Nairn-Smith is a picture editor with over 20 years of experience in film and television post-production. Before assuming the role of lead editor, Cedricworked for many of his editorial heroes as an assistant film editor on features such as Terminator 3, Mission: Impossible 3, and Alice in Wonderland, to name just a few. During his tenure with editors such as Neil Travis, Mary Ann Brandon, and Chris Lebenzon, Cedric learned not only how to craft material at the highest level, but also—perhaps more importantly—how to lead a cutting room with talented assistant editors. A confident believer in the notion of collaboration, Cedric often looks to his assistant editors for fresh ideas or a new way of thinking. If he’s ever short on inspiration or stuck on a scene, Cedric is also known to watch the opening of All That Jazz for a breakthrough. Cedric’s early career as an editor include seasons of Bates Motel (A&E), Mr. Mercedes (Audience Network), and The Boys (Amazon). Recent credits include Ironheart (Marvel), Black Rabbit (Netflix), and Daredevil: Born Again (Marvel).
