Beatles ’64, an all-new documentary from producer Martin Scorsese and director David Tedeschi, will stream exclusively on Disney+ beginning November 29, 2024. The film captures the electrifying moment of The Beatles’ first visit to America. Featuring never-before-seen footage of the band and the legions of young fans who helped fuel their ascendance, the film gives a rare glimpse into when The Beatles became the most influential and beloved band of all time.  

 

On February 7, 1964, The Beatles arrived in New York City to unprecedented excitement and hysteria. From the instant they landed at Kennedy Airport, met by thousands of fans, Beatlemania swept New York and the entire country. Their thrilling debut performance on The Ed Sullivan Showcaptivated more than 73 million viewers, the most watched television event of its time. Beatles ’64 presents the spectacle, but also tells a more intimate behind the scenes story, capturing the camaraderie of John, Paul, George, and Ringo as they experienced unimaginable fame.

Guest Bio:

David Tedeschi - For over 20 years, award-winning filmmaker DAVID TEDESCHI (Director) has worked in creative collaboration with Martin Scorsese. Alongside the legendary filmmaker, Tedeschi’s directing credits include the critically acclaimed feature documentaries Personality Crisis: One Night Only (Showtime, 2022) and The Fifty-Year Argument (HBO, 2014). Beatles ’64 marks Tedeschi’s solo feature directorial debut, which is produced by Scorsese and executive produced by Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, premiering this November on Disney+. 

 

In 2021 Tedeschi earned an Emmy® nomination for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series for Pretend It’s a City (2021), the seven-part Netflix series which he executive produced and edited. He served as producer and editor on the Bob Dylan documentary The Rolling Thunder Revue (Netflix, 2019) and editor on Shine A Light (Paramount, 2006) with the Rolling Stones. Tedeschi also garnered Emmy nominations for nonfiction editing for George Harrison: Living in the Material World (HBO, 2012) and No Direction Home: Bob Dylan (PBS, 2005).  

 

Earlier in his career, Tedeschi worked with Michael Moore on the groundbreaking television shows TV Nation and The Awful Truth. He also edited feature films including Leon Ichaso’s Pinero for Miramax and El Cantante for New Line Cinema.

 

Mariah Rehmet, ACE - Mariah received an ACE Eddie nomination for her work on Beatles '64. She recently edited the EmmyTM nominated film Being Mary Tyler Moore (2023), for which she received her first ACE Eddie nomination. Her previous work includes Dogs (2021), Stretch and Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives (2015), Word is Bond (2018), and Rapture (2018).
